Autonomous State Medical College, Lalitpur is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment where every student can pursue medical education with confidence, dignity and freedom from fear. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the college, hospital, hostels, campus, transport facilities and all institution-related activities.
The institution follows applicable anti-ragging regulations and maintains preventive, monitoring and reporting mechanisms to protect students. Physical harassment, verbal abuse, humiliation, intimidation, forced activities, financial exploitation, discrimination, cyberbullying and any conduct that causes physical or psychological harm may constitute ragging and can lead to disciplinary and legal action.
Students are encouraged to treat one another with respect, support a positive academic culture and report any concerning behaviour without delay. A complaint may be submitted by an affected student, parent, guardian, witness or any person who becomes aware of an incident. Reports are handled responsibly by authorised institutional officials, with appropriate attention to confidentiality, student safety and fair enquiry procedures.
The Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad work together to conduct awareness programmes, monitor vulnerable areas, supervise hostels and respond promptly to complaints. Anyone facing immediate danger should contact the appropriate emergency service and authorised college officials immediately. What Constitutes Ragging?
Ragging may include physical, verbal, psychological, online or financial harassment and any activity that humiliates, intimidates or endangers another student.
Verbal Abuse and Humiliation
Using insulting language, offensive remarks, abusive names, ridicule or public humiliation intended to embarrass, demean or frighten another student.
Psychological Intimidation
Creating fear through threats, isolation, persistent pressure, bullying or behaviour that damages a student’s confidence, dignity or emotional well-being.
Forced Activities
Compelling students to perform unwanted tasks, personal services, embarrassing acts or activities against their consent, comfort, safety or personal beliefs.
Financial Exploitation
Forcing students to provide money, purchase items, arrange parties, pay expenses or surrender personal belongings for another person’s benefit.
Online Harassment
Using social media, messaging applications, emails or digital groups to threaten, mock, shame, impersonate or circulate harmful content about students.

Students, parents, guardians and witnesses can report suspected ragging through authorised institutional or national channels. Every complaint should provide clear information and will be handled responsibly, with due attention to confidentiality, student safety and fair enquiry
Contact the Support Team
Contact the institutional helpline, Anti-Ragging Committee member, official email address or online complaint portal to report the incident and request guidance.
Submit Your Complaint
Provide available details, including the incident date, time, location, persons involved and a clear description. Supporting evidence may also be submitted when available.
Receive Acknowledgement
The authorised team will record and acknowledge the complaint, assess any immediate safety concerns and inform the complainant about the next appropriate steps.
Committee Review and Action
Anti-Ragging Committee will review the complaint according to applicable regulations and recommend appropriate protective, disciplinary, administrative or legal action.
Receive Confidential Support
The institution may provide counselling, mentoring, safety assistance and academic support to help the affected student continue their education with confidence and dignity.
Follow-Up and Monitoring
Authorised officials will monitor the situation, help prevent retaliation and maintain appropriate follow-up until the complaint process and required actions are completed.
